Submissions and Publishing

How to Get Published

The first step in sharing your book with the world is to submit your manuscript. Whether you have a novel, poetry collection, memoir, children’s book, or other genre, it must first be accepted through our editorial review process. Lingua Ink is a selective publisher that partners with authors whose manuscripts align with our values, quality standards, and publishing vision.

We charge nothing to review your manuscript. If we receive an overwhelming number of submissions in the future, we may introduce a reading fee. We accept submissions from both individual authors and literary agents.

Manuscripts submitted should be near publication-ready. Editing is not bundled into our publishing package, but we can recommend trusted, professional editors.

While our inital catalog leans toward women’s fiction, romance, memoir, and poetry, we are especially eager to publish LGBTQ+ voices and Pacific Northwest authors.

What Makes Us Different

At Lingua Ink, we work individually with each author to make sure their goals and preferences are met. We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all contracts; each agreement is customized and negotiable. We take pride in operating transparently, with integrity, and with respect for every author’s voice. We work selectively, not transactionally, and partner with authors who are invested in producing the best possible version of their work. Unlike vanity presses, our business is built on maintaining the quality of our catalog and championing underrepresented voices. Our authors retain creative control, full copyright, and a meaningful share of profits, because this is your book, your vision, and your legacy.

Production & Design Services

Lingua Ink is responsible for your print-ready cover design, typeset digital proofs, ISBN registration, Library of Congress submission, and marketing assets. We partner with you on the cover to make sure your vision is represented.

Authors are responsible for covering the cost of physical production, which typically ranges from $500 to $2,000 depending on the length and complexity of the book. We guide your manuscript through a structured process that includes:

  • Custom Illustrations: If needed, we manage artwork tailored to your book’s vision.
  • Cover Design: Crafting a compelling, market-driven cover that attracts readers.
  • Print & eBook Preparation: Formatting and converting your manuscript into high-quality print and digital editions.

Grant of Rights

Authors retain full copyright to their work. Lingua Ink holds the exclusive right to distribute and price the book through our sales and distribution channels for the duration of the publishing agreement, after which it reverts to the author. This includes wholesale and online platforms, ensuring consistent and professional representation in the marketplace. Authors are always welcome to promote and sell their own copies independently, and can purchase them at a reduced rate to sell directly through events, personal websites, or community outreach.

Royalties and Revenue Share

Lingua Ink offers authors a significantly higher share of royalties than traditional publishing. Our standard agreements provide authors with 60–70% of net proceeds from book sales. Royalty terms are transparent and tailored to each project as part of our flexible, author-first approach.

Marketing Support

Our primary goal is to get your book in the hands of readers. Authors receive custom-designed marketing assets and individualized guidance tailored to their audience and genre. Lingua Ink actively supports every title with coordinated marketing efforts, and we encourage authors to participate, with our strategic support. Every title is listed on the Lingua Ink website, Amazon, and Ingram’s distribution network. We collaborate with our authors on launch strategies and are always transparent about what marketing support is provided.

Printed Copies

Authors receive three complimentary paperback copies on publication. They are responsible for shipping costs for physical copies they sell directly.

Timeline for Deliverables, Approval, & Completion

This timeline is negotiable on an author-by-author basis to accommodate different publishing needs.
